| Puppy Training |
The K9 SuperNanny, can help you with all aspects of getting your new pup settled in at home, toilet training, learning to walk on the leash and basic manners ie no chewing shoes, lounges, or your 2 year old daughters' fingers!
Irma would however, like emphasise the importance for proper socialisation with other pups and older dogs. If there are not many dogs in your area, you may want to think about group puppy classes as an option. |
These classes are run often in conjunction with your local vet. However due to the number of pups in these classes, there is not a lot of individual attention and a some of owners find it handy to get a couple of individual lessons at home, especially if they have a pup that is a slow learner. This can be because of several reasons, for example attention span, or in fact lack there of, tends to be a bit of a problem in the group classes |
You can compare it with pre-school for children and often these classes are indeed called Puppy Pre-School. Imagine a bunch of 3 year old children together. They learn to share, interact with other children etc, but the main purpose here is that they have fun!
It is pretty much the same with the very young pup and we recommend that apart
from teaching the puppy basic manners, toilet training, maybe a simple sit, accept wearing a collar and walking on a leash,
you wait with
proper obedience training until the pup is 16 weeks old Some pups mature slower than others, so this is a guideline only. |
